Gallant's plan for the "next day": dividing the Gaza Strip into 24 administrative regions
During his visit to Washington this week, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant discussed with American officials the “Next Day” plan after the war on Gaza, which is not related to a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas, but rather expresses the position of the Israeli security apparatus, according to what the Washington newspaper reported. Post" today, Friday.
The plan reviewed by Gallant stipulates the formation of a special committee to supervise implementation, headed by the United States and with the participation of an international force that includes soldiers from Egypt, Jordan, the Emirates, and Morocco, and will be responsible for security in the Gaza Strip, while American soldiers will be responsible for the logistical aspect.
Gradually, a Palestinian force will assume responsibility for security within the Strip, after undergoing special American training.
The newspaper added that the plan will be implemented in stages, starting in the north of the Strip and expanding to the south as much as the situation allows. Gallant believes that the Gaza Strip will be divided according to the plan into 24 administrative regions.
The newspaper quoted American officials as saying that they support Gallant's plan. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced that he rejected any plan in which the Palestinian Authority would play a role.
The newspaper noted that "in the United States, there are pessimists about the possibility of expanding the plan to many other regions."
The newspaper also quoted American officials as saying that the Arab countries will not support this plan if the Palestinian Authority is not directly involved in it, and that the Arab countries want to see a political horizon for a Palestinian state, something that Gallant strongly opposes.
