Haaretz: The countdown to Israel's collapse has begun

Haaretz newspaper commented remarkably on what happened in the so-called Flags March two days ago, citing what the thinker, author, and critic of Israeli society, Yehoshua Leibovich (1903-1994), said.

The newspaper described the stage that Israel is going through as brutal, saying in its editorial - today, Friday - that "it is impossible to look at the documented depiction of the ugly, violent demonstrators during the Jewish supremacy march (the flag march) in the streets of Jerusalem the day before yesterday without hearing the warning of Professor Yehoshua Levovich echoing in the background."

According to what Haaretz reported, Levovich previously said, “National pride and euphoria following the Six-Day War (in 1967) are temporary, and will lead us from a rising nationalist tendency to extreme nationalism. The third stage will be brutality, while the final stage will be the end of Zionism.” The newspaper described the philosopher as being far-sighted.

The newspaper added, describing what happened in the march, saying, "The general spirit was the spirit of revenge. The prominent symbol on the participants' shirts was the Kahanist fist. The popular chant was a particularly vengeful song, along with slogans of 'Death to the Arabs and let their village be burned.'"

"Scary" atmosphere

Haaretz said that the most popular minister was National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and the general atmosphere was "frightening," noting that its correspondent, Nir Hasson, was assaulted by a gang of boys who knocked him to the ground and kicked him.

It added that not only the reporter was attacked, but those she described as rioters threatened, insulted, pushed, and assaulted Palestinian passers-by, and every person they recognized as a journalist or trying to photograph them.

It explained, "The reason for their attack on journalists is that there were not enough Palestinian victims, as Palestinian families closed the doors of their homes."

The newspaper repeated the reason for the absence of Palestinian movement in Jerusalem, “because they have already learned that when the Jews celebrate Jerusalem Day, it is better to evacuate the square so that the revelers do not attack them.”

Haaretz considered that "brutality" is no longer limited to the margins, settlements, or outposts, but has infiltrated the ranks of the Israeli army, the Knesset, the government, and ministers and representatives, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Transportation Minister Miri Regev, Ben Gvir, and others.

The newspaper concluded its editorial with a warning: “If the Israeli community does not work to return extremists to the margins of society, eliminate Kahanism, and erase the malicious epidemic of occupation from the body of the state, then it is only a matter of time until the complete collapse of Israel. The countdown has begun,” as she put it.
