West Bank: Israeli settlers demolish 11 homes and displace their residents
On Tuesday, Israeli settlers demolished 11 Palestinian homes west of the city of Jericho in the central West Bank, displacing its residents, who numbered about 40 individuals.
Activist Hassan Mlihat, general supervisor of the “Al-Baidar Organization for Defending Bedouin Rights” (a human rights organization), said, “Colonists (settlers) demolished 11 homes of Mlihat Arabs, west of Jericho.”
Mlihat added to Anatolia that the dwellings are barracks (tin structures) located in the “Naqab Safi” Bedouin community, west of Al-Duyuk.
He confirmed that the demolition was carried out using bulldozers, and affected homes built about 3 years ago, noting that the homes were all inhabited and located on a mountain overlooking the city of Jericho.
He stated that "about 40 people who were living in these homes became displaced and headed to the Fasayil area, north of Jericho," explaining that they themselves were "originally displaced from the Baqa'a area northeast of Jerusalem in previous years."
During last May, settlers carried out 221 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, according to a monthly report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority (governmental) published on Monday.
The Commission stated that “the planning authorities in the occupying state studied 8 structural plans for the settlements of the West Bank and Jerusalem, and approved 3 plans, two of which were in Jerusalem.”
In conjunction with its war on Gaza, the Israeli army expanded its operations in the West Bank, in addition to the escalation of settlers’ attacks on the population, which resulted in hundreds of deaths in addition to the arrest of about 9,000 Palestinians, according to official Palestinian sources.
Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza, leaving more than 119,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.
Israel continues this war, ignoring a Security Council resolution demanding that it stop the fighting immediately, and orders from the Court of Justice to stop its attack on Rafah, and take immediate measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and “improve the humanitarian situation” in Gaza.
