Gaza.. A new Israeli ground incursion into the Bureij camp and the beginning of a wave of displacement

On Tuesday, the Israeli army again penetrated the Bureij Palestinian refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip under cover of fierce artillery and air bombardment. This led to the start of a wave of exodus from the camp.

Anadolu correspondent reported, citing eyewitnesses, that Israeli military vehicles penetrated into the eastern areas of the Bureij camp after the army carried out a series of fire belts on the camp using artillery and warplanes.

Witnesses reported that clashes are currently breaking out between members of the Palestinian resistance and Israeli forces east of the camp.

They explained that clouds of black smoke were rising in the sky of the areas targeted by the Israeli forces, while hundreds of Palestinians began to flee from the camp towards the Nuseirat camp and the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

Witnesses pointed out that the Israeli artillery shelling also targeted Al-Maghazi camp, adjacent to Al-Bureij.

This comes as the Israeli army said, in a statement, that "its warplanes are currently launching raids in Bureij."

The army claimed that "the raids focus on Hamas targets," and that they coincide with "ground forces carrying out a precise operation through intelligence guidance."

The Israeli army did not provide further details in its statement.

The Israeli army withdrew from the Bureij camp in mid-January, after a military operation that lasted two weeks, leaving a large number of casualties and massive destruction.

Earlier today, 4 Palestinians were killed and others were injured as a result of an air strike that targeted a house belonging to the Ghanem family in the “Block 10” area of the Bureij camp, according to medical sources for Anadolu Agency.

According to eyewitnesses to Anatolia, Israeli warplanes launched another raid targeting Al-Hilu School in the “Block 9” area, east of Al-Bureij Camp, without resulting in casualties.

This comes as part of a devastating war waged by Israel against Gaza, since October 7, 2023, which has left more than 119,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues its war on Gaza despite a decision by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah (south), and to take measures to prevent acts of “genocide” from occurring, and to improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Strip.
