A significant increase in infectious skin diseases among prisoners amid demands to stop their executions

Today, Wednesday, the head of the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority, Qaddoura Fares, called on the institutions of the international community to intervene urgently to stop the policy of executions against Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli prisons and detention centers, which has escalated since the seventh of last October.

Fares denounced the crime that was reported in the Hebrew media yesterday evening, which was the martyrdom of two Palestinians from the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip as a result of the beating and torture they were subjected to during their transfer from Khan Yunis to the Sde Teman prison, which was designated to hold those who arrest and kidnap citizens from all parts of the Strip. .

Fares said: “The process of executing Palestinians in this manner and with this approach, which was revealed by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, demonstrates the brutality of the occupation soldiers, who now have the power to determine the mechanism of dealing with detainees and control the fate of their lives, and to kill two Palestinians during the process of transporting them in an Israeli military vehicle.” Their bodies show signs of beatings and torture. This means that the brutality of the occupation army and its members has reached the point of insanity that threatens the existence and stability of humanity.”

Fares called for the formation of an international humanitarian and human rights committee, based on a UN resolution, that would immediately go to the occupying state and demand that it reveal the fate of the Gaza Strip prisoners, visit their place of detention in the so-called “Sidi Teman” in the Beersheba area in the occupied Palestinian interior, learn about their conditions, and reveal the executions. In their ranks, knowing that this place was an army military base, today it has been transformed into a torture and execution factory.

In this context, the Prisoner’s Club said that there is a large and unprecedented increase in the number of prisoners suffering from skin diseases in the Israeli occupation prisons, specifically (scabies) disease, which is considered one of the most dangerous contagious skin diseases, in addition to the infection of prisoners with other contagious skin diseases. Prisoners are unable to know their nature.

The Prisoners' Club stated that dozens of cases were monitored based on recent visits conducted by lawyers, in addition to testimonies from prisoners who were recently released, specifically in the Negev and Megiddo prisons, in addition to monitoring cases in Ofer and Raymond prisons. With the lack of availability of the minimum basic needs, including the necessary cleaning materials, reduced amounts of water, and the limited possibility of the prisoner’s ability to shower, and all the factors that enable the prisoner to maintain his cleanliness.

Since the beginning of the war of genocide, the prison administration has confiscated all of the prisoners’ belongings, including clothes. The prisoner today depends on one spare change, in addition to the great state of overcrowding inside the departments with the escalation of daily arrest campaigns. The lack of ventilation and the isolation of prisoners in cells with no sunlight contributed greatly. in the spread of diseases.

The Prisoner's Club explained, in a statement today, Wednesday, that in light of the deteriorating health conditions of the prisoners, the occupation prison administration continues to escalate its systematic medical crimes, and deliberately leaves the prisoners without treatment. Rather, the biggest crime it is committing today against the prisoners is deliberately transferring prisoners with contagious diseases from... It was divided into another section, which contributed to the escalation in the number of infections, knowing that among the infected were children prisoners - specifically - in (Megiddo) prison.

The Prisoner's Club added that the occupation, in addition to all the measures of torture, abuse, plunder, deprivation and starvation that have multiplied now, has turned every detail related to the detention life of prisoners into a tool for multiplying the methods of torture and abuse, including turning the prisoner's need for treatment into a tool for torture, by depriving him of his right to Treatment: While the prisoner used to face great procrastination in obtaining the minimum amount of treatment, today he faces more severe and greater medical crimes compared to the stages that preceded the ongoing war of extermination.
