Negotiations to return prisoners will resume next week
Israel said on Saturday that negotiations with Hamas regarding reaching a prisoner exchange deal and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will resume next week.
The official Hebrew Broadcasting Authority reported that the head of the Israeli intelligence service, Mossad, David Barnea, returned on Saturday morning from the French capital, Paris, where he met there, yesterday, Friday, with the director of the American Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed Abdel Rahman Al. second.
It added: “Following the meeting, Israel officially announced that the deal negotiations will reopen next week,” without mentioning a specific day.
The Broadcasting Authority quoted an Israeli source familiar with the details of the meeting, without naming him, as saying that Barnea presented to Burns and the Qatari Prime Minister a new proposal for a prisoner exchange deal drafted by the Israeli negotiating team.
