Again...the CIA director arrives in the region soon

Israeli Channel 13 reported that the Director of the CIA, William Burns, intends to visit the region soon, as part of American attempts to bring about a breakthrough in the prisoner exchange file.

Channel 13 reported that high-ranking officials in the Israeli negotiating team had been notified about Burns’ visit, noting that Mossad chief David Barnea “will travel to meet with the American official who is leading the Biden administration’s efforts to free the detainees - the Israelis -.”

According to the Walla website, the CIA director will meet with the head of the Mossad in a European country, which he did not specify, indicating the possibility of Qatari and Egyptian officials participating in the meeting that will be held “in the coming days.”

Israeli media reported that the war cabinet decided, the night before last, to expand the powers of the negotiating delegation, but the Walla website said that "it is not certain that it will be possible to achieve a breakthrough in the talks on the hostage deal."

According to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, the War Cabinet tasked the negotiating team with “formulating a concrete proposal to present to the mediators” in order to resume indirect negotiations with Hamas.

It reported that the proposal prepared by the person responsible for the file of prisoners and hostages in the Israeli army, Nitzan Alon, would be the basis for the new proposal.

It pointed out that Alon's proposal includes Israel's willingness to compromise on issues in dispute with the Hamas movement, in exchange for tightening the Israeli position on other files.
