Ireland intends to recognize the State of Palestine this month

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said that his country intends to recognize the State of Palestine this May.

Harris explained in a speech he delivered on the occasion of commemoration of the victims of the Great Irish Famine between 1845 and 1852.

In the capital, London, he said that his country's position on Middle East issues is clear, stressing the need to stop the violence immediately and allow humanitarian aid to arrive without hindrance due to the humanitarian catastrophe occurring in Gaza.

Harris pointed out that Ireland is moving with countries that want to recognize the State of Palestine.

It is noteworthy that 8 member states of the European Union recognize the State of Palestine: Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, the Southern Cyprus Administration, and Sweden.
