Israeli "Raymond" detention center neglects to follow up on the conditions of sick detainees

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority reported that its legal unit was able to visit the dean of detainees, Muhammad al-Tus, in Raymond detention center, in addition to the detainees, Murad Abu al-Rub and Taher Saleh, who spoke about their suffering and the suffering of all detainees “in Raymond.”

Focusing on sick detainees, whose illness and conditions are ignored by the prison administration, and organized crime is practiced against them, by leaving them prey to the disease and not providing them with treatment and medications.

The detainee's dean, Muhammad al-Tus, who has been detained since 1985 and has been sentenced to life imprisonment, spoke about the general conditions in the prison, describing them as the worst possible, something he had not witnessed since his arrest about 39 years ago, where all forms of punishment and deprivation were imposed on them, which affected every detail of their lives.

The legal team explained that the detainee, Al-Tous, suffers from poor vision, as he suffered from a retinal problem two years ago, and was undergoing a treatment program, but the prison administration arrested him since the outbreak of aggression, and prevented him from completing his treatment, which caused a decline in both eyes, and he began to see only in front of him. From very close distances.

The detainee, Murad Abu Al-Rub, who has been sentenced to four life terms, confirmed that the complex medical cases in the prison were severely punished, and that there are four detainees in the room where they are being held, breathing with artificial respiration devices and supplies: Khalil Baraqa, Assaf Zahran, Samer Hashash, and Asaad Zoroub.

He also talked about the widespread spread of skin diseases among detainees, as a result of the deprivation of sterilizers and cleaning materials, and the scarcity of clothes and blankets.

Regarding the health condition of detainee Abu Al-Rub, he was supposed to undergo an operation on his nose, due to a fracture at the time of his arrest, but the occupation prevents him from receiving treatment.

Taher Saleh, who has been in administrative detention for four years, spoke about his difficult health condition, as he suffered a sudden illness two months ago that was severe pain in the head and chest that caused him to lose consciousness. He woke up from this condition after the intervention of the detainee’s doctor, who began to press on his chest. The illness resulted in paralysis on the left side. From the body, he is unable to move his jaw, arm, and leg. He feels severe and constant pain. He is unable to walk or use the bathroom. He moves in a wheelchair with the help of detainees. He suffers from memory and concentration impairment.

Recently, detainee Saleh began moving his jaw after receiving nerve medication. Despite all of this, he was not referred to the hospital and this treatment was sufficient, noting that he was informed by the detainee’s clinic doctor that he needed electrotherapy sessions to revive the nerves.

The Commission warned of the escalation of the crime of medical negligence in this manner and with this approach, which threatens the lives of dozens and hundreds of sick detainees, as the health situation requires urgent international intervention, and that continuing to deprive patients of treatment and medications puts them in the circle of real danger, specifically since the jailers lack all the necessary elements. humanity, and they exploit the aggression to multiply the aches, pains and diseases among the detainees.
