Thousands demonstrate in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, against the invasion of the city of Rafah
Thousands of demonstrators participated in the Australian cities of Sydney and Melbourne in two massive demonstrations, in support of Palestine and to protest the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
According to what was reported by the Australian website "News.com.au" on Monday, the demonstrators raised the Palestinian flag and demanded an end to military operations in Rafah.
The demonstrators also raised banners reading: “Zionism is racist and racism is fascism” and “Boycott the apartheid regime in Israel.”
Despite mounting international warnings about expanding military operations in Rafah, the Israeli occupation forces called, on Saturday morning, for the displacement of citizens from neighborhoods in the heart of the city “immediately,” thus expanding its operations that began on Monday, east of the city.
On the morning of Tuesday, May 7, the Israeli occupation forces occupied the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing and stopped the flow of aid to the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli forces continue to close the Rafah border crossing and the Karam Abu Salem commercial crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, for the eighth day in a row, which threatens to exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe that the besieged Strip is suffering from.
The continued closure of the Rafah crossing, which is the main land crossing through which aid enters and the wounded and sick leave to receive treatment outside the Gaza Strip, threatens to exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe, especially since the food stock in Gaza is nearing completion, according to UN organizations.
The city of Rafah is the last refuge for the displaced in the afflicted Strip. Since the beginning of the ground operation launched by the occupation forces on the Gaza Strip on the 27th of last October, citizens have been asked to go from the north and center of the Strip to the south, claiming that they are “safe areas.”
The Israeli occupation continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since the seventh of last October, which resulted in the death of 35,034 citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 78,755 others, in an infinite toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble. .
