“Like Hiroshima.” An American senator incites Israel to launch a nuclear strike on Gaza

US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham urged Israel's "right" to strike Gaza with a nuclear bomb, as his country did in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end World War II, describing it as "the right decision."

Graham said, in an interview with the American channel NBC News: “This was the right decision (a nuclear strike). Give Israel the bombs it needs to end the war, as it cannot bear the loss, and work with it to reduce human losses,” according to His claim.

Graham attacked opponents, defending his idea, saying: “Why was it acceptable for America to drop two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end the existential threat war between them? Why was it acceptable for us to do that? I thought it was good.”

He appealed to the authorities in Israel, saying: “Do whatever you have to do in order to remain a Jewish state.”

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Graham has referred to Nagasaki and Hiroshima to defend the supply of American weapons to Israel.

Last Friday, Graham said at a press conference: “We saved a million Americans from having to go and invade Japan.”

He previously made a similar statement during a congressional hearing on Wednesday.

According to the American newspaper "Business Insider", the United States gives Israel an estimated $3.8 billion in weapons and defense systems annually.

Last April, Congress approved a military aid package worth $15 billion for Israel, including about $5 billion to replenish weapons stocks.

Despite mounting international warnings about expanding military operations in Rafah, the Israeli occupation army called, on Saturday morning, for the “immediate” displacement of residents of neighborhoods in the heart of the city, thus expanding its operations that began last Monday, east of the city.

On May 5, Israel closed the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing on the border with Gaza, while the Rafah crossing on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt continued to be closed for the seventh day after it announced control over it on Tuesday morning.

The Biden administration has since halted a shipment of about 3,500 bombs to Israel, amid concerns that the weapons could be used in Rafah, and as the president faces increasing backlash among Democrats in Congress for his support for Tel Aviv.

On Saturday, the Hamas movement warned of the repercussions of the Israeli occupation army’s control over the Rafah crossing and its closure since last Tuesday, which “portends a humanitarian catastrophe and an aggravation of the state of famine throughout the besieged Gaza Strip.”

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza, which has left more than 113,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues the war despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and also despite the fact that the International Court of Justice asked it to take immediate measures to prevent acts of “genocide” and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
