Health in Gaza warns of the collapse of the system within a few hours

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned today (Monday) of the collapse of the health system in the coastal strip, which is home to more than two million people, within a few hours.

The ministry said, in a brief statement, a copy of which was received by Xinhua News Agency, "We are only a few hours away from the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip."

The statement explained that this is a result of the failure to bring in the fuel needed to operate electricity generators in hospitals, ambulances, and transport employees.

Last Sunday, the Israeli army closed the only commercial crossing with Gaza (Kerem Shalom / Kerem Shalom) in response to a missile attack on a military point near the crossing that killed four soldiers and was claimed by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

On Tuesday, the Israeli army announced the imposition of “operational” control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, located in the southern Gaza Strip on the border with Egypt, after launching a “delicate counter-terrorism operation” in the eastern region of Rafah.

Although the crossing was opened from the Egyptian side and ambulances and aid and fuel trucks were lined up, none of them entered the crossing due to the Israeli army’s control of the Palestinian side of the crossing and the stationing of its tanks near it.

Several international organizations warned of the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip with Israel closing the Rafah and Kerem Shalom crossings.

Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a war against the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, which has left more than 35,000 Palestinians dead, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, after Hamas launched a surprise attack on a number of Israeli military bases and towns adjacent to the border with the Strip, resulting in the death of 1,200.
