“Terrifying testimonies” and calls to stop the war... Tens of thousands of displaced people are fleeing hell
Hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Rafah live in an atmosphere of fear and terror, with the intensification of the occupation’s air, land and sea attacks, to the sound of the roar of cannons and the bombardment of aircraft and battleship shells, simultaneously with the flight of reconnaissance planes with their annoying buzzing sound.
"Al-Quds" toured the city threatened by a ground invasion, where the displaced appeared to be in a hurry, as they were packing their belongings and tents, to move to new shelter centers, while the most crowded Al-Awda Square and the main Rafah Street were empty of pedestrians and cars, and the shops were closed.
With the passage of “7 months” since the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the residents of the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, are anticipating the occurrence of a humanitarian catastrophe if Israel carries out its threats to launch a military operation in the city, in light of the worsening conditions of the displaced in Rafah with the continued Israeli bombing, the lack of necessities of life, and the necessity of thousands. To spend the night in the open or in tents that do not protect against the cold of winter amid the outbreak of epidemics and the spread of diseases, which caused hundreds of families to flee north to the center of the Strip to avoid bombing and massacres, with no remaining options before them.
Testimonies from displaced people..
Khalil Aql, 48 years old, told Al-Quds.com: “I and my seven family members decided to move to the Nuseirat camp in Al-Wusta. We do not know what the occupation is planning against us. Nothing will prevent them from committing more massacres and massacres, killing children and women, and destroying and burning homes.” ".
Akl continues, saying: “This is the fourth time we were displaced after the destruction of our house in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza, and moving to Al-Shifa Hospital before it was stormed, then to Khan Yunis camp, before the city was occupied, until we reached Rafah, and we do not know what will happen to us after that? We will go into the unknown.” ".
The West is safer.
As for the citizen Salah Hamto, 34 years old, he decided to move to Mawasi Rafah in the west, explaining that his convictions were that the occupation would invade the east and south of Rafah and would not invade the west of Rafah, where the seashore is, nor its north, where the city of Khan Yunis is located. Therefore, he decided to move with his wife and four children to the west. The safest.
Hamto continues, telling Al-Quds.com: “We are tired of travel and displacement, but we must save our children and women from this criminal enemy who did not respect any red lines, and whose crimes targeted people, stones and trees, without respecting any international conventions or treaties.” .
I will not leave my home..
Citizen Maher Muhammad, 52 years old, a resident of the Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood, spoke to Al-Quds.com, saying: “I will not leave my home no matter what happens. I will not leave my neighborhood, and whatever happens happens, I and my children will remain here and I will not budge an inch, even if God decrees for us.” Martyrdom is our wish to die on our land.”
Hammad explained, "What is happening is an Israeli attempt to create terror among people, in order to put pressure on the resistance, by threatening and intimidating us in order to recover its kidnapped soldiers, and this increases our determination to hold on to our homes and places until the end."
What does Israel want from us?
Citizen Mervat Al-Qayed, 43 years old, who was displaced in the pump school in the Al-Salamah area adjacent to the Al-Jeneina neighborhood, east of Rafah, spoke to Al-Quds.com, with tears in her eyes in a tone close to crying: Why is this thing happening to us? We fled from the Al-Sabra neighborhood in The beginning of the war to Al-Bureij camp, then to Khan Yunis, then to Rafah... Where will we go now and what awaits us?
The citizen, who was riding in a horse carriage carrying her belongings and luggage, with her husband and five children, continued: Where is the world? Why are they watching us? What more does Israel want from us? We are living moments of fear, terror, hunger, poverty and destruction. For how long?
Human rights activist Salah Abdel Ati, director of the Hashd Foundation for Human Rights, warned in an exclusive statement to Al-Quds.com about the tragic situation of the displaced in Rafah, in light of the reports received about the occupation forces’ plans to expand their military attack and invade the city that hosts... More than half of the population of the Gaza Strip, and it has already begun with intense bombing operations that affected various places in the crowded city.
Abdel Ati stressed that the continued extermination of civilians and the forced displacement of about 1.5 million citizens again has catastrophic repercussions that demonstrate the Israeli persistence in moving forward with the crime of genocide against our people.
Abdel Ati expressed his fear of a new massacre affecting the remaining population of the Gaza Strip in a clear manifestation of a full-fledged crime of genocide, given the horrific bombardment with various types of weapons by the occupation forces, in light of Israel ignoring all calls warning of the dangerous consequences of the ground operation in Rafah.
Abdel Ati called for forcing Israel to stop the crime of genocide, including forced displacement, and imposing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and obliging it to implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice preventing the commission of genocide, and pushing it to take practical measures that preserve the lives of civilians, and stop all its plans for a ground attack on the city. Rafah, and called for more pressure on Israel to facilitate the arrival of food and medical aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
