A senior Arab official: The Gaza deal is imminent, but it is not completely secure

A high-ranking Arab official confirmed that the draft agreement between Israel and Hamas to stop the war in the Gaza Strip is the best since the start of the negotiations, noting that “its acceptance is imminent.”

However, the official, who requested that his name be withheld, expressed fears that “either party is capable of making a 180-degree turn and returning to square one,” that is, retracting its position.

He explained to Sky News Arabia that "the private calculations of both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and some Hamas leaders are what complicate the political decision-making to approve the long-awaited deal."

The official warned that "Netanyahu, for his own political reasons, may reject the agreement even if the offer presented by Hamas meets Israeli conditions well."
