Former Israeli soldier: We targeted women and children in Gaza

An interview conducted by the American CBS News channel, yesterday, Tuesday, with a former Israeli sniper who was fighting in Gaza, revealed the atrocities of the Israeli occupation army in the Strip, after he confirmed that the army had been deliberately targeting women and children since the outbreak of the aggression against Gaza on October 7.

This soldier is a former sniper in the Israeli Special Forces in the West Bank between 2005 and 2007, and he was also fighting in Gaza, but he broke his silence in that interview, stressing that many of the dead in Gaza were women and children, and were killed intentionally.

The soldier stated in the interview that the Israeli army was targeting civilians without prior warning, as part of the destruction of entire areas in the Gaza Strip. He described the scenes of the displacement of people from the Israeli bombing, saying, “We were watching the elderly and children fleeing, and the rules of engagement allowed us to open fire.”

During the war, dozens of photos and video clips showed occupation soldiers targeting civilians fleeing bombing, and the bodies of women and children on the side of the road after being targeted by occupation snipers.

The soldier pointed out that 3 Israeli prisoners were killed during their escape from Gaza last December, by the Israeli forces while carrying a white flag, adding that they were killed by “their army’s bullets” by mistake.

He also spoke about what was called the “flour massacre” last February, in which 100 Palestinians were killed while trying to reach aid, criticizing American support for Israel in the war, saying that “had it not been for (US President) Joe Biden’s support for Israel, the war in Gaza would not have continued.” ".

The soldier denounced the Israeli army's claim of evacuating civilians to protect them and using them as human shields by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), stressing that the Israel violated human rights and committed war crimes in Gaza.

Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, leaving tens of thousands of martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, massive destruction, and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues its war despite the issuance of an immediate ceasefire resolution by the Security Council, and despite its appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing genocide.
