Sewage leakage threatens the spread of epidemics in Gaza

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Saturday that the leakage of sewage and the accumulation of various wastes may lead to the spread of epidemics and diseases in the Strip.

The Ministry warned, in a press statement, of the danger of the spread of many diseases and epidemics as a result of sewage overflow, the accumulation of waste in the streets and among the tents of the displaced, and the spread of reptiles and insects, in light of the high temperature, which threatens the occurrence of a health disaster.

The Ministry also appealed to all concerned, international and humanitarian institutions to intervene and quickly.

On the other hand, the municipality of the city of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip announced that the Israeli army had destroyed 70% of the water wells feeding the Palestinian residents of the city.

Mayor Alaa Al-Attar explained that since the beginning of the devastating Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Beit Lahia has been subjected to major infrastructure and residential destruction.

Al-Attar added that the Israeli army destroyed 70% of the water wells feeding the Palestinian residents of the city, and 50% of the sewage pumps, which caused a humanitarian crisis during the war on the Gaza Strip.
