Israeli Army: We will head to Rafah after the end of the operation in Nuseirat
An Israeli army battalion commander said on Thursday that the army will head to the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, after the end of the military operation on the outskirts of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Israeli Army Radio said that the army ended the military operation last night in the vicinity of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
It quoted Lieutenant Colonel Dotan (whose surname was not mentioned), commander of the 932nd Battalion, as saying to the Israeli soldiers on the outskirts of the Nuseirat camp, at the end of the military operation: “We are going to Rafah.”
He added, praising the actions of his forces: “The people of Israel are counting on you to do this as best as possible in Rafah as well, as was the case in Nuseirat and as happened in the Al-Zeitoun (neighborhood) (east of Gaza City) and as happened in Al-Shifa (Hospital) (in Gaza City).”
The Israeli army began its incursion into the Nuseirat camp a week ago.
The 932nd Division was the one that carried out a large military operation in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood last February, and in the Al-Shifa Medical Complex last March.
This comes as the Israeli army continues to launch raids on Rafah, whose residents and displaced persons were not immune from the consequences of the war, despite the city being considered their last “safe” haven in the Gaza Strip on the border with Egypt.
In parallel, regional and international warnings are escalating regarding the preparations to invade Rafah, and the danger this poses to hundreds of thousands of displaced people who have taken refuge there.
