A massacre on Al-Rashid Street.. Israel targets displaced people who tried to return to Gaza

Five Palestinians, including a woman, were killed, and 23 others were injured, today, Sunday, as a result of Israeli artillery targeting displaced people on Al-Rashid Street during their attempt to return to the northern Gaza Strip.

Local sources reported that the Israeli forces stationed near Al-Rashid Street fired artillery shells, fire, and poison gas bombs at the displaced people as they attempted to return to Gaza City, which led to the death of five of them and the injury of at least 23.

The sources added that hundreds of citizens are trying to return to northern Gaza via the Wadi Gaza Bridge on Al-Rashid Street.

Insistence on preventing return

Meanwhile, Al-Arabi's correspondent in Gaza, Basil Khalaf, reported that information had been circulated since the early morning hours regarding the occupation forces allowing some Palestinians to return to the northern Gaza Strip.

He explained that it turned out that this information “was not accurate,” as it was shared among the ranks of the displaced, who headed in small numbers at first, and their number increased during the daylight hours, to the Al-Rashid Street area, west of the Nuseirat camp.

He pointed out that the return of the displaced is essentially a stuck point in the Cairo negotiations, especially their return from the center and south to the northern Gaza Strip, but there is a thirst on the part of the citizens to return despite the fact that the Israeli army’s barriers are still in place, he said.

Our correspondent explained the presence of occupation vehicles on Al-Rashid Street, which came out of their positions into the street and directed their fire at the displaced people.

Deaths and wounded in Israeli bombing

In addition, eight citizens were injured today, Sunday, as a result of the Israeli warplanes bombing three homes in the city of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian News and Information Agency, Wafa, said that Israeli warplanes targeted three homes in Beit Hanoun, wounding at least eight citizens.

Local sources reported to the agency that medical teams and residents were able to recover the bodies of a number of deaths as a result of a bombing that targeted a house for the Abu Ghoula family in the new camp in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that the occupation army denied that there would be permission for the return of Palestinians from the center and south to Gaza and the north.

A child died and 3 others were injured, as relief aid boxes dropped from the air fell in northern and central Gaza Strip.

Medical sources reported that the child, Zain Mahmoud Arouq, died as a result of an aid box falling on him in the northern Gaza Strip.

The sources added that 3 children were injured while trying to reach aid boxes that were thrown into the sea west of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
