The Security Council calls for removing obstacles to aid reaching Gaza
The UN Security Council called for the immediate lifting of all obstacles to aid reaching Gaza.
In a statement Thursday evening, Council members expressed their concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation and the impending famine in Gaza.
The members of the Security Council called on the parties to the conflict to respect the protection enjoyed by humanitarian workers, according to the statement, and condemned the forms of violence and hostilities against civilians.
In this context, members of the UN Security Council expressed their denunciation and “deep” concern over the killing of employees of the “World Central Kitchen” organization, in an Israeli raid on the Gaza Strip in early April.
Council members announced that the death toll among humanitarian aid workers in Gaza reached 224.
The statement called for those responsible for all these deaths to be held accountable, noting the need for the investigation into the “murder” of World Central Kitchen employees to be “transparent, comprehensive, and fully announced.”
