Walla: Gallant informed Austin that “Israel” has not yet set a date for the Rafah operation
The Hebrew Walla website, citing an informed source, said on Tuesday evening that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant informed his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, that Tel Aviv has not yet set a date for the Rafah operation in southern Gaza.
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that Tel Aviv did not inform the United States of the date of a possible military operation in Rafah in the far south of the Gaza Strip.
Blinken said during a press conference in Washington alongside his British counterpart, David Cameron, “No, we do not have any date for an operation, at least no date that we have been informed of by the Israelis.”
Blinken added that the United States continues to work closely with Qatar and Egypt to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
He stated that he expects to see Israeli officials again next week to discuss the situation in Gaza.
On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the date for the Rafah military operation had been set, without revealing its specific date.
Netanyahu said in a video clip on Monday evening, “Today I received a detailed report on the talks in Cairo, and we are working tirelessly to achieve our goals, foremost of which is the release of all our hostages and achieving complete victory over Hamas.”
He continued, "This victory requires entering Rafah and eliminating the terrorist brigades there. This will happen. A date has been set."
