Al Jazeera condemns Netanyahu's statements against it
On Tuesday, Al Jazeera Network condemned statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he described the channel as inciting “terrorism” and that it supported the attack of last October 7.
The network said in a statement that it could only describe Netanyahu's statements as a dangerous and ridiculous lie.
It added: Netanyahu found no justifications for his continued attacks on Al Jazeera and freedom of the press except lies and slander, holding him responsible for the safety of the network’s crews and facilities around the world.
It continued: Netanyahu's statements come as part of a series of systematic Israeli attacks to silence Al Jazeera.
It stressed that slander and accusations will not deter us from continuing coverage boldly and professionally, and we reserve all our legal rights. As stated in the text of its statement.
Netanyahu's statements came against the backdrop of the Israeli Knesset approving a law banning Al Jazeera from operating inside Israel under the pretext of incitement to "terrorism."
