Washington agrees to provide Israel with more bombs and fighter jets

Despite recent disagreements between Washington and Tel Aviv over the war in Gaza, the administration of US President Joe Biden agreed in recent days to transfer billions of dollars worth of bombs and fighter planes to Israel, according to a recent report by the Washington Post.

The new weapons packages include more than 2,300 MK84 bombs of varying weights, according to Pentagon and State Department officials familiar with the matter. These bombs have been linked to previous events that led to catastrophic casualties, throughout the Israeli military campaign in Gaza.

Washington provides annual military aid worth $3.8 billion to Israel, its long-time ally. Support despite the dispute. News of American military support for Israel comes in contrast to the recent dispute between the two governments.

Israeli sources had indicated a change in US President Joe Biden's tone towards Israel, whether regarding the faltering hostage deal or the introduction of aid into the Gaza Strip, which indicates his "exhaustion of patience."

The Israeli "Walla" website considered that Biden's order to the US army to establish a temporary port in Gaza in order to speed up the delivery of humanitarian aid and "not to wait for Israel", as further evidence of his change in his approach to dealing with the crisis.

Biden's union speech indicated a change in his position toward the war in Gaza, and impatience in the White House toward the behavior of the Israeli government, according to Walla.

The website added, "The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip played a central role in the US President's speech, especially his initiative to build a temporary port in Gaza."

Biden's advisors briefed reporters on Monday that the president had instructed his team to move forward with establishing the port.

The US President also used the term "ceasefire" in his speech, which his administration had avoided using.
