Israeli Minister Ben Gvir demands allowing settlers to storm Al-Aqsa mosque during Ramadan

The Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, calls for a reversal of the policy adopted by the Israeli authorities over the past years, preventing settlers from storming Al-Aqsa Mosque during the last ten days of the month of Ramadan.

This came according to what was reported by Israeli Channel 13, this evening, Sunday. It stated that the Israeli security services received Ben Gvir's request prior to the deliberations that the Israeli government is scheduled to hold to discuss this issue during the next two weeks.

The channel quoted a government official as saying, “It is clear that the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, will not ultimately agree to Ben Gvir’s request.” The report also suggested that the security services will oppose Ben Gvir’s request.

The Israeli official stressed that "simply asking Ben Gvir to violate the status quo, which has become the norm in recent years, will lead to more unnecessary unrest."
