Israeli Army: Two officers killed and 7 seriously injured in Gaza
The Israeli army announced that two officers were killed and seven others from the Givati Brigade were wounded in battles in the northern Gaza Strip last night.
The army explained in a statement on Wednesday that the two dead were a company commander in a battalion affiliated with the Givati Brigade and a platoon commander in the same battalion, and confirmed that the seven wounded were seriously injured.
The Israeli Soroka Hospital announced that it received 47 injured soldiers during the past 24 hours, including 19 in serious condition.
The hospital explained that it had received 2,790 Israeli soldiers with injuries of varying degrees of severity since the beginning of the war on Gaza.
The Israeli army spoke in a previous statement about fighting fierce battles in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City, and claimed to have killed what it described as “dozens of militants” in face-to-face clashes and in air strikes.
He added that he also destroyed military infrastructure in the central Gaza Strip and security squares belonging to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and that he arrested a number of militants who tried to move to safe shelter centers as civilians, he said.
Resistance operations
On the other hand, the Al-Qassam Brigades reported that its fighters were engaged in clashes behind the lines of Israeli forces and vehicles between Eighth and Nineth Streets, south of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.
Al-Qassam announced that it had targeted a gathering of occupation forces with mortar shells in the vicinity of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City. It also announced the destruction of a Merkava tank that had penetrated the area with an Al-Yassin 105 shell.
It added that its fighters targeted an Israeli bulldozer east of the Zaytoun neighborhood, causing it to catch fire.
As for the Al-Quds Brigades, it said that it caused an Israeli force to be killed or wounded in an ambush in a booby-trapped building in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood using an unexploded Israeli missile, adding that its fighters blew up two Israeli military vehicles in the south and east of the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City.
On the other hand, Al Jazeera correspondent reported that sirens were sounding in Nahal Oz and Alumim in the Gaza envelope area at dawn on Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Al-Quds Brigades said that it bombed the city of Ashkelon and the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip with missile launches in response to the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.
Israeli media reported that a person was injured in Ashkelon as a result of rockets falling from Gaza that caused a fire, adding that alarms were activated in Ashkelon after a 10-day lull, while Israeli Channel 12 said that Iron Dome intercepted two missiles fired from Gaza towards Ashkelon. .
Since the Al-Aqsa Flood operation carried out by the resistance on October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, leaving tens of thousands killed and wounded - most of them children and women - and causing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
The number of Israeli army deaths since the beginning of the war reached 582, according to official data announced by the Israeli side.
