Israeli sources: The army withdraws forces from Gaza and directs them to the West Bank
The Israeli army withdrew more of its forces from Gaza and directed them to the occupied West Bank, Israeli sources said Monday.
The sources stated that "the Israeli army, despite the continuing battles in the city of Khan Yunis, south of Gaza, is withdrawing more forces from the Strip, whether from reserve forces or regular forces."
It indicated that "a portion of the forces that were withdrawn will be directed to the West Bank."
On Friday, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy revealed that the army is withdrawing more reserve soldiers, knowing that they will be called up again soon.
On Thursday, the American Wall Street Journal said that Israel withdrew thousands of its soldiers from Gaza after “pressure” from the United States, to move to a less intense and more precise phase in its war against Hamas.
Israeli forces continue to carry out operations in the West Bank, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed his rejection of any “Palestinian sovereignty” in the post-war period.
Over the past few days, Israel has carried out arrest campaigns, after storming a number of towns and homes in the West Bank.
