Borrell: Peace cannot be built through military means, and we must talk about concrete plans for a two-state solution
European Union foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell stressed on Monday the two-state solution to put an end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stressing that Israel cannot build peace “by military means.”
Borrell repeated the United Nations' condemnation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's "unacceptable" rejection of calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
"What we want is to build a solution on the basis of two states. So, let's discuss it," Borrell said in statements to reporters ahead of a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Bruxa.
He stressed that "peace and stability cannot be built by military means alone."
He added: The humanitarian situation in Gaza could not be worse, and asked: “What other solutions are they thinking of? Pushing all the Palestinians to leave? Killing them?”
Borrell confirmed that he presented to the bloc's ministers a "comprehensive approach" to reach a lasting peace.
In an infinite toll, the number of dead since the start of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on the seventh of last October has risen to about 25,105 people, and 62,681 injured, the majority of whom are women and children, and thousands of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads and cannot be reached. .
