50 South African lawyers are suing Washington and London
50 South African lawyers are preparing to sue the American administration and the British government, due to their “complicity in the crimes committed by Israel in Palestine.”
The initiative, led by lawyer Wikus van Rensburg, aims to prosecute accomplices in the crime before civil courts, in cooperation with lawyers in the United States of America and Britain.
In preparation for the case, Rensburg has sent letters to a number of countries and the International Criminal Court over the past few weeks. He said on Monday that "the United States must be held responsible for the crimes it committed."
Rensburg added in a statement that many lawyers decided to join the initiative because of their sense of responsibility and their desire to contribute to this case.
Rensburg stated, "No one holds the United States responsible for the crimes it committed, and no one cares about that, and what happened in (the American invasion of Iraq in 2003) is an example of that."
He continued, "The United States is busy spending more money and more resources to commit crime. No one is telling it enough."
The International Court of Justice held two public hearings in The Hague on Thursday and Friday to consider a lawsuit filed by South Africa against “Israel” on charges of committing “genocide crimes” against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
On December 29, South Africa filed a lawsuit before the International Court of Justice, accusing “Israel” of committing “genocide crimes” in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a fierce war for more than 3 months.
