The seventh since October 7: A new Palestinian prisoner dies in Israeli prisons

On Monday evening, the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority announced the death of a Palestinian detainee in Israeli occupation prisons.

The head of the Prisoners' and Ex-Prisoners' Affairs Authority, Qaddoura Fares, reported the death of a detainee in "Megiddo" prison, without knowing any details yet about the identity of the martyr.

Fares said that the news of the detainee’s death comes within the framework of the occupation’s crimes against detainees in its prisons, which raised the number of detainees who died inside prisons since October 7 of last year (2023) to seven.

Fares pointed out that the seven dead detainees in the occupation prisons are the only ones known so far, noting that there are other dead detainees from the Gaza Strip that no one knows about yet.

On November 19, the Prisoners and Ex-Detainees Affairs Authority announced the death of detainee Thaer Samih Abu Assab (38 years old) from Qalqilya Governorate in the Negev Desert Prison.

On the 14th of last November, the detainee Ahmed Muhammad Mar’i (33 years old), from the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan in Salfit Governorate, was dead in “Megiddo” prison, and on the 6th of the same month, the detainee Majed Ahmed Zaqoul (32 years old), from the Gaza Strip, was dead. In addition to another detainee from the Gaza Strip, whose identity is not yet known.

On October 23, the detainee Omar Daraghmeh (58 years old) from Tubas, and the detainee Arafat Hamdan (25 years old) from Ramallah, were dead, less than 24 hours apart.

Thus, the number of martyrs of the captive movement since 1967 has risen to 244 dead, including 18 dead whose bodies are still being held by the occupation.

Since the start of the comprehensive aggression against our people on October 7 of last year, detainees in the occupation prisons have been subjected to physical and verbal torture and deprivation of the necessities of life, according to the testimonies of released detainees, and statements issued by the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Prisoners’ Club.
