Biden sends a “pressure” envoy... and Israel challenges: We will continue without support

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan plans to travel to Israel Thursday and Friday to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli war cabinet, and President Isaac Herzog, to discuss the latest developments in Israel and Gaza, National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said.

Pressing messages to Tel Aviv

Sullivan is expected to carry "sensitive messages" to the Israeli camp regarding the war in Gaza, especially after reports indicated a new disagreement between the US President and Netanyahu regarding the continuation of the war. The escalation of the dispute between US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the conflict in Israel has become public, There are many questions about the expected impact on the course of the war in the Gaza Strip.

This comes at a time when Biden said that the Israeli Prime Minister must “change his extremist government,” after Tel Aviv “loses the support of the international community, as a result of the indiscriminate bombing” in Gaza, which is suffering under the weight of a massive humanitarian crisis.

We will continue the war without international support

In this regard, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said on Wednesday that agreeing to a ceasefire in Gaza at this stage would be a mistake, and that Israel will continue its war on Hamas, with or without the support of the international community.

Cohen said: "Israel will continue the war against Hamas, whether with or without international support," adding that "the ceasefire at the current stage will be a gift to the Hamas terrorist organization and will allow it to threaten the population of Israel again."

Cohen also called on the international community to act "effectively and resolutely" to protect global shipping routes.

Israeli Army Radio said that the war council would be held on Wednesday night, in Tel Aviv, on the eve of the visit of US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan.
