West Bank: About 4,000 Palestinians have been arrested and 63 children have been killed since October 7

Save the Children announced that at least 100 Palestinian children have been killed since the beginning of this year, while the occupation forces have arrested about 4,000 since October 7 in the West Bank.

The British non-governmental organization concerned with defending children's rights around the world stated that the number of Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces or illegal settlers since October 7 has reached 63 children.

The organization indicated in a statement that United Nations reports indicate that 388 children were displaced as a result of settler attacks and restrictions during the recent period.

The conflicts in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem have kept children out of schools and deprived them of basic needs and services, according to the statement.

It added that the confiscation of phones of children trying to pass through checkpoints in the West Bank and their detention by the military detention system due to their posts on social media raises serious concerns about human rights, including freedom of expression, privacy and deprivation of liberty.

The statement included a statement by Jason Lee, the organization's director in Palestine, in which he warned that the conditions of children in the West Bank were deteriorating, coinciding with the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Save the Children previously announced that the number of children killed in the Israeli attacks on Gaza is higher than the total number of children killed in all conflict zones in the world since 2019.

4 thousand detainees

On the other hand, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club and the Prisoners' Affairs Authority said that the Israeli army had arrested 3,390 Palestinians since October 7 until Thursday evening, including 260 Palestinians who were arrested during the days of the truce.

A joint statement from the two institutions stated that this toll includes those who were arrested from homes, through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage.

The statement confirmed that 30 arrests were recorded on Thursday, while the total number of arrests on Wednesday/Thursday night reached 40 cases.

According to the two institutions, during the arrest campaigns, the occupation forces carried out widespread harassment, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes.

The Prisoners' Club and the Prisoners' Authority stated that the Israeli army arrested more than 260 Palestinians during the days of the truce.

The days of the truce between Hamas and Israel, which began last Friday, witnessed the release of 180 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, all of them women and minor children.

The arrests escalated as a result of a devastating war launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, which left massive infrastructure destruction and tens of thousands of civilian casualties, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to official Palestinian and UN sources.

With Qatari-Egyptian-American mediation, a temporary truce began for 4 days between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on November 24. It was extended for two additional days, and then extended on Wednesday evening for an additional day. Its terms include a ceasefire, an exchange of prisoners, and the entry of humanitarian aid into the country. Gaza.
