Sources: Israeli forces withdrew from Al-Shifa Hospital... and their tanks surrounded it

Press sources reported to Al-Hurra on Wednesday that the Israeli army withdrew from the entire Shifa Hospital in Gaza, after carrying out an earlier raid.

The sources said that Israeli tanks are still besieging the medical complex, the largest in Gaza, which has been at the heart of the war between Israel and Hamas for several days.

Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City became the main target of the ground operation launched by Israeli forces. They say that Hamas fighters made the “beating heart” of their operations in a headquarters with tunnels under the hospital, which Hamas denies.

Israel said that its forces found unspecified weapons and "terrorist infrastructure" inside the hospital complex after killing fighters in a clash outside it.

It stated that once the forces entered, there was no fighting and no contact with civilians, patients or employees.

The Israeli army said, "Before entering the hospital, our forces encountered explosive devices and a terrorist squad, and fighting ensued, resulting in the killing of two terrorists."

Israel constantly confirms that the hospital is located above one of Hamas's headquarters. The United States said yesterday, Tuesday, that it has intelligence information that supports what Israel is saying.

A doctor at Al-Shifa Hospital told Reuters that hospital workers, patients and displaced Palestinians sheltering there were terrified when Israeli forces moved to raid the complex.

The fate of Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in Gaza, has raised concern at the international level due to deteriorating conditions with shortages in supplies of fuel, medicine, food and water.
