Reuters: A tripartite intelligence meeting in Qatar to release prisoners

Reuters revealed that a reliable source told it that a tripartite meeting was held in Doha, on Thursday, between the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the head of the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad), and the Qatari prime minister to discuss the parameters of an agreement to release the hostages and reach a truce from the attack on Gaza. .

According to Reuters, “The advantage of the tripartite meeting is to bring the three parties together at one table at one time to speed up the process.”

The talks also discussed allowing the import of fuel to Gaza for humanitarian purposes.

The agency notes that a source had told it on Wednesday that negotiations were being mediated by Qatar to secure the release of ten to 15 people detained by Hamas in exchange for a humanitarian truce for a day or two in Gaza.

The source added that the negotiations are taking place in coordination with the United States, and that the truce will allow Hamas to collect details about all civilian detainees and secure the release of dozens of others.

The source, who requested to remain anonymous, said, "The exact number is still unclear at this stage."

Reuters also quoted an Egyptian security source as saying that a ceasefire is expected for between 24 and 48 hours, or a determination of the scope of the main operations during the next week, in exchange for the release of detainees.

The source said that the United States and other countries have intensified pressure on Israel to achieve this.

US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that he urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the fighting for humanitarian reasons. The G7 foreign ministers meeting in Tokyo called for a humanitarian truce in Gaza.

The United Nations says that the health system in Gaza is on the verge of collapse after being subjected to air strikes, overcrowding with patients, and running out of drugs and fuel.
