Lviv (Ukraine) - (DPA) - In the midst of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the American actress and director Angelina Jolie went to western Ukraine to meet the refugees there.
The Lviv region administration said on Saturday that as part of her tour, Jolie visited children in hospital who were wounded in a missile attack on the train station in Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine about three weeks ago.
The pictures show Jolie, 46, embracing children and taking selfies with the medical staff. "The visit was unexpected for all of us," said city governor Maksim Kosizkij.
He added that many could not believe their eyes.
A video clip also showed Jolie rushing to a shelter to take cover from airstrikes as the alarm sounded.
Another clip was also circulated on social media, showing Jolie as an envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, who is in a cafe in Lviv.
Many people have fled from many parts of Ukraine to this city in the west of the country since the start of the Russian war on February 24.
