World Health Organization: 42,000 people in Gaza are suffering from disability-causing injuries.

The World Health Organization announced on Thursday that nearly 42,000 people in Gaza, a quarter of whom are children, are suffering from injuries that will cause them permanent disabilities, in a shocking report that revealed the collapse of the health sector.

Based on these catastrophic figures, the organization called for an 'immediate ceasefire' and the protection of health facilities.

This report comes after nearly two years of war waged by the occupation on the Gaza Strip, which has led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

The UN organization's report revealed that among 167,376 injured since October 2023, a quarter of them, or about 42,000 people, are suffering from permanent injuries.

Severe injuries include the following: more than 5,000 cases of limb amputation, over 22,000 injuries to the limbs, and more than 2,000 spinal cord injuries.

The report indicated that the health system in Gaza has exhausted its capacities, with only 14 out of 36 hospitals operating partially, and rehabilitation services reduced to a third of what they were.
