The "Global Fleet of Resilience" to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip announced today, Sunday, that it is now only about 825 kilometers away from the strip.
The "Global Fleet of Resilience," which includes more than 50 boats heading towards Gaza with the aim of opening a humanitarian corridor and breaking the Israeli blockade, has been subjected to attacks by drones believed to have been carried out by Israel, resulting in several explosions and communication disruptions, without any human casualties.
The "Global Fleet of Resilience" continues its voyage towards the besieged Gaza and includes the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Global Gaza Movement, the Resilience Convoy, and the Malaysian organization "Nusantara Resilience," with more than 500 activists on board from about 45 countries, including 54 French and 15 Belgians, along with doctors and prominent activists including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
One of the activists on board the "Alma" boat of the fleet reported in a short video on the fleet's account on the "X" platform that drone movements were recorded during the night, as two drones flew at low altitude over the fleet's boats, without carrying out any attacks.
Both Italy and Spain announced the dispatch of navy ships to accompany the Global Fleet of Resilience seeking to break the ongoing Israeli blockade on Gaza, following its attack by drones.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto stated that he decided to send a second navy ship to assist the fleet, strongly condemning the attack that targeted the Global Fleet of Resilience last Tuesday via drones.
For his part, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also announced the dispatch of a navy ship to accompany the fleet in anticipation of possible attacks.
At the end of August, dozens of ships set sail from the Spanish port of Barcelona as part of the fleet, loaded with humanitarian aid, especially medical supplies, followed by another convoy that departed at dawn on September 1 from the port of Genoa in northwestern Italy, as well as other boats from Morocco and Tunisia.
The occupation has previously engaged in acts of piracy against ships heading to Gaza, seizing them and deporting the activists on board.
This is the first time that dozens of ships are sailing together towards Gaza in a collective attempt to break the Israeli blockade on the strip.
Activists confirmed their continued sailing towards Gaza, despite Israeli threats.
