Australia: Israeli Starvation in Gaza is a War Crime

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed that the starvation policy practiced by Israel against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is considered a war crime. This came during an interview with Australian ABC News, where he expressed his deep concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Albanese explained that the restrictions imposed on the flow of humanitarian aid since March have led to a real humanitarian catastrophe, pointing out that the loss of lives due to the genocide being committed by Israel is absolutely unacceptable.

He added that Israel's actions are unjustifiable, and that there is immense suffering experienced by the people in Gaza, who are suffering from hunger and loss of life. He noted that many people are being killed while trying to obtain food and water, which is completely unacceptable.

In a related context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli starvation since October 7, 2023, has risen to 227 Palestinians, including 103 children, after five people died within 24 hours.

Albanese also indicated that Australia will recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings in September, reflecting a shift in Australian policy towards the Palestinian issue.

Since October 7, the occupying state has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, and destruction, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop these actions.

The Israeli genocide has resulted in the deaths of 61,599 Palestinians and 154,088 injured, most of whom are children and women, in addition to more than 9,000 missing and hundreds of thousands displaced, leading to a famine that has claimed the lives of 227 people, including 103 children.
