Major U.S. academic association votes to boycott Israel

The American Anthropological Association (AAA) voted to boycott Israeli academia over its complicity with human rights abuses against Palestinians on Monday, in a major victory for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. 

The motion slammed Israeli "apartheid" and was passed by a majority of 71% of the votes.

The decision prevents any member of the association from dealing with Israeli academic institutions, or participating in its conferences or using its facilities. It does not, however, extend to bans on individual academics.
