Spain Championship: Athletic Bilbao fails to catch up with the continental positions

Athletic Bilbao failed to catch up to the qualifying places for European competitions, by contenting itself with a 1-1 draw against its host Real Mallorca in the thirty-second round of the Spanish Football League on Monday.

Things almost got worse for Bilbao, as he snatched the equalizer in the sixth minute of stoppage time through a penalty kick for Ghanaian Inaki Williams, after South Korean Kang-In opened the scoring for the hosts (58).

The Basque club raised its score to 47 points, in seventh place, two points away from Real Betis VI, which occupies the last qualifying positions for the continental competitions.

This is the second match in a row without a win for Bilbao after falling against Sevilla in the last stage.

For his part, Mallorca raised its tally to 41 points in eleventh place after falling against Atletico Madrid.

And later, Seville XII will play with its guest, Girona X, at the end of the stage.
