The Central Bureau of Statistics announced that the general wholesale price index in Palestine recorded an increase of 1.00% during the first quarter of 2023 compared to the fourth quarter of 2022, by 2.02% for locally produced goods, and by 0.63% for imported goods.
In a report prepared in this regard, the results of which were published today, Wednesday, "Statistics" attributed the main reason for this increase to the rise in commodity prices within the wholesale trade section, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles, by 1.05%, which constitutes 89% of wholesale trade. Wholesale selling for a group of categories as follows: fruits and vegetables by 9.40%, live animals by 7.65%, waste, scrap and other products not classified elsewhere by 6.39%, tobacco products by 4.42%, and the sale of building materials, appliances, plumbing and heating equipment and their supplies by 2.75% %, dairy products and eggs by 1.15%.
On the other hand, wholesale prices decreased for a group of categories as follows: grains and seeds by 9.70%, solid fuels by 7.42%, pharmaceuticals and medicinal products by 4.51%, and fish, meat and its products by 4.25%.
The wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles also recorded an increase of 0.57%, which constitutes 11% of the wholesale trade, as the prices of selling, maintaining and repairing motorcycles and their spare parts and related accessories increased by 33.33%. Wholesale of motor vehicle group by 1.10%.
