BEIJING (Xinhua) -- China 's Ministry of Water Resources sent five working groups to Hebei, Tianjin, Shanxi and Shaanxi last Sunday to provide guidance on preventing heavy rains and floods .
From Sunday to Wednesday, heavy rains will hit the northern and northwest parts of the country, according to the ministry.
The water levels of some major rivers in these areas, such as the Yellow River, Haihe River and Huaihe River, may exceed the alert level.
On the same day, the ministry organized a meeting to analyze the rain and flood conditions in north China, and demanded increased monitoring of the flood situation and the management and protection of major water conservancy projects to ensure public safety.
