Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported the martyrdom of seven people and the injury of twenty-eight others during the past forty-eight hours, due to ongoing Israeli attacks in various areas of the Strip. The sources confirmed that civil defense and ambulance crews face immense challenges preventing them from reaching those missing under the rubble of destroyed homes and in rugged roads, which indicates the presence of additional victims not yet included in official records.
In a related context, the Ministry of Health revealed an increase in the number of casualties since the signing of the ceasefire agreement on October 11th, with the number of martyrs reaching 1,098 people, while 3,535 others were injured. Reports indicated that these figures come amidst continuous field violations, including bombing and demolition of residential blocks, where specialized teams have only been able to recover 800 cases since the start of this fragile truce.
Regarding the comprehensive statistics since the outbreak of the aggression on October 7, 2023, medical records documented an increase in the cumulative total of martyrs to 73,221, while the number of injured rose to 173,643 people. The ministry noted that these data reflect the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe experienced by the residents of the Strip amid the targeting of the health system and the obstruction of rescue efforts and field documentation.
Documentation teams also announced the addition of 96 new martyrs to the official lists after completing all their data and approving them by specialized committees since the beginning of last June. Health authorities warned of the near-complete paralysis affecting the ambulance system, which directly hinders the monitoring of the actual number of victims who are still trapped under the rubble in areas of incursions and clashes.
Ambulance and civil defense crews are still unable to reach the rubble and roads to recover more victims due to field complexities.
