Occupation Foreign Minister attacks 'technocrat' government proposal, describes it as a maneuver to protect Hamas's weapons

The Occupation Foreign Minister described the recent political moves by the Hamas movement as merely a 'diplomatic maneuver' essentially aimed at protecting its military arsenal from dismantling. The minister indicated that the movement is trying to circumvent international and field pressures by showing flexibility towards forming an independent technocrat government that would only handle administrative affairs.

The official in the occupation government stressed Tel Aviv's categorical rejection of any political or administrative arrangements in the Gaza Strip that would allow the military infrastructure of Palestinian factions to remain. Sources confirmed that the occupation views the continued presence of weapons in the movement's hands as a direct and continuous threat to its security, regardless of the identity of the entity managing civilian and service institutions.

According to the vision put forth by the Occupation Foreign Minister, Hamas seeks through these proposals to place the burdens of daily administration and municipal services on the technocrat committee, allowing it to dedicate itself to strengthening its combat capabilities. The minister warned that this scenario would reproduce previous crises, as the ultimate authority in the Strip would remain with those who possess military power on the ground.

In the context of Israeli warnings, the official indicated that any civilian government formed without dismantling the factions' weapons would be hostage to military dictates and directives. He clarified that the continued presence of weapons means the continued ability to carry out operations against the occupation, which would make the civilian government merely a facade with no real authority to make sovereign or security decisions.

These statements come at a time when regional and international parties are intensifying their efforts to formulate a clear vision for the post-war phase in the Gaza Strip, based on entrusting administration to independent national figures. However, the Israeli position continues to pose an obstacle to these proposals, as the occupation insists on the complete dismantling of military capabilities before discussing any political or administrative settlement.

The real goal of the Hamas movement in accepting these proposals is for the technocrat committee to manage civilian files, while the movement retains its full power and weapons on the ground.
