Palestinian Child Martyred and Hundreds of Livestock Stolen in Widespread Settler Attack in Central West Bank

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced today, Wednesday, the martyrdom of 16-year-old child Youssef Ali Youssef Kaabneh, as a result of being shot by Israeli occupation forces. The tragic incident occurred near the village of Jaljilya, north of Ramallah, at a time when the area was witnessing violent attacks by groups of settlers.

Medical and local sources reported that ambulance crews dealt with Kaabneh's injury, which was described as very critical, in the chest area, before he succumbed to his wounds. The shooting coincided with coordinated attacks carried out by dozens of armed settlers on citizens' homes in the western area of the villages of Sinjil and Jaljilya.

Sources in the Palestinian Red Crescent stated that the attacks also resulted in four other citizens sustaining injuries of varying degrees, two of whom were shot with live ammunition, while the other two were severely beaten by settlers. All injured were transferred to nearby hospitals for necessary treatment amidst a state of extreme tension that prevailed in the area.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that settlers carried out widespread looting operations under the direct protection of the occupation army, where they managed to steal about 700 head of sheep belonging to local farmers. The theft also affected agricultural equipment and private property, in a clear attempt to restrict the livelihoods of Palestinians in those villages.

In a related context, occupation forces stormed the town of Silat al-Dhahr in the northern West Bank, where they targeted two schools in the town and provocatively lowered the Palestinian flag from one of them. This step comes as part of a series of violations targeting educational institutions and Palestinian national symbols in various West Bank governorates.

On another note, hundreds of settlers stormed the 'Joseph's Tomb' shrine east of Nablus under heavy guard from occupation military vehicles to perform religious rituals. These incursions led to clashes in the surrounding areas, where occupation forces used excessive force to secure the entry and exit of settlers from the site.

Official Palestinian statistics indicate a dangerous escalation in the pace of violence since October 2023, with the number of martyrs in the West Bank reaching 1155. Medical sources also recorded injuries to approximately 11,750 Palestinians, while arrests exceeded 22,000 cases amidst ongoing daily incursions.
