Susan Sarour: Rubio's visit and his participation in the opening of a tunnel beneath Silwan leading to the Buraq Square is a step to encourage settlement and the Judaization of Jerusalem
Dr. Hassan Marhaj: A step to legitimize Israeli undermining practices supporting the policy of displacement and demographic change in Gaza and the annexation of the West Bank
Amir Makhloul: The visit confirms the commitment to support Israel and gives a green light to continue the war, displacement, and annex parts of the West Bank and assert sovereignty over them
Imad Abu Awad: One of the goals of the visit is to alleviate international pressure on Netanyahu and legitimize Israeli behavior and what may happen in the coming days
Ismat Mansour: It is likely that Netanyahu will exploit the visit as an approval of his aggressive policies, especially regarding the anticipated recognitions of the state

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio concluded his visit to Israel, affirming before his departure that the "disagreement" regarding the attack on Doha will not affect support for Tel Aviv nor change it, while he visited the occupied city of Jerusalem accompanied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where they performed Jewish religious rituals at the Buraq Wall and inaugurated a tunnel extending about 600 meters beneath the Old City, from the southern edges of the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood in Silwan to the foundations of the Buraq Wall west of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Analysts and writers who spoke to "Y" indicated that Washington is a partner to Israel and will not leave it alone.
Analysts believe that Rubio's visit to Israel at this time carries deep strategic political dimensions intertwined with several interconnected files, including the plan to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, the future of the Gaza Strip in light of the expansion of Israeli military operations and displacement plans, and ahead of the anticipated General Assembly meeting and the rise in recognitions of the State of Palestine. They pointed out that the visit confirms the absolute and doctrinal position in favor of Israel and gives a green light for the continuation of the war, warning that it constitutes a cover and legitimization for Israeli behavior not only for what happened in Doha but also for what may happen in the coming days amid Israeli expansionist ambitions.
Journalist Susan Sarour, an observer and critic of the political scene in Israel, said: "At the time when foreign ministers of Arab and Islamic countries gathered in Doha in preparation for the emergency summit to respond to the Israeli attack targeting officials from Hamas leaders on Qatari territory, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio participated in the opening of a tunnel beneath Silwan leading to the Buraq Square, in a clear step to encourage the Israeli government on settlement and the Judaization of Jerusalem."
She added: "Perhaps the scene that was publicly drawn in Jerusalem, with Rubio donning the Jewish skullcap and placing the paper slip between the walls of the Buraq Wall and participating in the opening of the tunnel, is a clear message to those gathered in Doha in a closed meeting that we do not leave Israel alone, and that what you see on television screens is more powerful and impactful than what will come out of your closed meetings."
Sarour described the relationship between Israel and the United States as a strategic relationship above the natural alliance, stating, "It cannot be affected by the direction of deteriorating relations or their retreat, and it remains strong and will not change even after the attack on Doha, while Qatar remains a wonderful ally, not more than the word 'wonderful' for the United States, according to President Trump."
Regarding the war on Gaza, Sarour confirmed that "the U.S. administration is still procrastinating in ending the war, and President Trump does not see that the time has come to pressure Netanyahu to stop the war as long as the latter has not yet achieved his goal of absolute victory, which will pave the way for him to head to elections that are getting closer than before."
Netanyahu is looking for a "victory" image to present to Israeli voters
Sarour sees that "Netanyahu is looking for a victory image to present to Israeli voters by achieving the last five goals he announced, which are: disarming Hamas, returning all
