Former British Justice Minister David Lammy, the current Foreign Secretary, stated that his government does not believe that the occupation is acting with the intent to commit genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
This came in response to questions posed to him by the International Development Committee in the British Parliament, where he confirmed that Britain's mission to prevent genocide begins when it receives information about real risks.
Lammy pointed out that the crime of genocide is only realized when there is an intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, or religious group, according to the International Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
The British government does not believe that Israel is acting with such intentions in the Gaza Strip.
