Moscow blames Washington for the Security Council's failure to take action regarding Gaza.

Russia has held the United States responsible for the failure of the United Nations Security Council to take any action regarding the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip. This was stated by Dmitry Polyansky, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, who confirmed that the United States is obstructing all initiatives aimed at ending the war there.

In a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Polyansky described the situation in Gaza as 'horrific', emphasizing the need for the international community to take responsibility for what is happening. He noted that the members of the Security Council have been unable to take a firm stance due to the influence of the United States.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupying state of Israel, with American support, has committed genocide in Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom of 62,819 Palestinians and the injury of 158,629 others, most of whom are children and women. More than 9,000 people are reported missing, and hundreds of thousands are displaced.

Polyansky strongly criticized the position of the United Nations Security Council, asserting that the situation in Gaza requires urgent action from the international community. He explained that Russia is ready to negotiate with all concerned parties to change the current situation.

He added that the United States has stood by Israel and granted it the green light for its aggressive practices in Gaza, which must be condemned in the strongest terms. He affirmed that what is happening in Gaza is unacceptable and shameful.

When Polyansky was asked whether Israel's practices amount to genocide, he clarified that this matter requires specific legal tools, but he pointed out that the current situation cannot be accepted in any form.

It is noteworthy that Russia, China, France, and Britain rejected a resolution in the United Nations Security Council that would allow Israel to expand its war on Gaza, while Washington announced its continued support for Tel Aviv, reflecting the significant division in the international community on this issue.
