British surgeon Graeme Groom, who returned from a volunteer mission in the Gaza Strip, shared his testimony about the horrific humanitarian conditions that the residents are experiencing, especially the children who are forced to sleep with their stomachs filled with water and salt due to the ongoing blockade and the prevention of food and medicine from entering.

Groom, who worked with a medical team affiliated with the British organizations "Islamic Relief" and "Ideal," pointed out that the famine is not natural but deliberate, leading to the deaths of dozens of infants and the deterioration of the conditions of injured civilians, with the crossings remaining closed since March 2, 2025, which has significantly exacerbated the food crisis.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the number of martyrs due to hunger and malnutrition reached 154 Palestinians by Wednesday, including 89 children, amid a severe shortage of food and medicine.

Groom explained that hunger does not only affect the patients but also extends to the medical staff, citing his Palestinian colleague, anesthesiologist Nizar Abu Daqa, who told him that his family cannot find anything to eat, and that his six children resorted to drinking water and licking salt to be able to sleep, after he bought 8 kilograms of flour for 300 dollars, which is all he has.

He confirmed that hunger hinders the recovery of the injured and increases the likelihood of infection and death, leaving lasting health and developmental effects on children, as medical clinics diagnose 12 cases of acute malnutrition among children daily, while mothers suffer from physical weakness that prevents them from breastfeeding their children.

In a related context, American doctor Ambreen Salimi, who works with the "Bayt Al-Mal" organization, stated that the lack of food and medicine forced her to perform early cesarean sections for Palestinian women suffering from serious complications, noting that many children are born small and prematurely.

Groom also spoke about the young Palestinian Muhammad Hameem, who sent him video clips documenting the occupation army shooting at civilians while they were waiting for aid near the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation," which operates under American-Israeli coordination, where the clips show the sounds of gunfire and the blood of martyrs, amid an organized campaign to suppress Palestinians during their attempts to obtain food.

Palestinians confirmed that the distribution of aid through this dubious foundation aims to gather the hungry and pressure them to force them to leave their land, paving the way for the implementation of a forced displacement project under the guise of "humanitarian." Since the start of this mechanism on May 27 until Friday, the Ministry of Health recorded 1,330 martyrs and more than 8,818 injuries among those waiting for aid.

In a call to world leaders, the British surgeon stated that what is happening in Gaza is barbarism that dates back to the Middle Ages, demanding an immediate halt to the bombing and allowing food to enter, warning of a humanitarian catastrophe unfolding day by day before the eyes of the world.
