Erdogan: Israel's attacks on Lebanon confirmed our fears of expanding the war

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that the recent attacks on Lebanon showed that Ankara was right to have concerns about the Israeli government’s plans to expand the scope of war in the region.

This came in a press conference he held at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul before heading to New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Turkish president indicated that he will deliver a speech to the United Nations General Assembly next Tuesday, explaining that he will address the joint steps that can be taken against the genocide in Gaza and Israel’s aggressive policies.

He continued: “The recent attacks on Lebanon showed that we are right to have concerns about the Israeli government’s plans to spread war in the region.” He stressed that “Israel once again carried out attacks as a terrorist organization and not as a state by bombing communication devices (in Lebanon).”

He pointed out that “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his network resort to all kinds of provocation and incitement to implement their extremist Zionist ideology.”
