The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the foreign ministers of Jordan, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, and the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, will hold a coordination meeting on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in light of the efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire between the Israelis and the Palestinians, before... They hold a meeting with US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, who is visiting Jordan.
Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Sufyan Al-Qudah, confirmed that the ministers will hold “a joint meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during which they will confirm the Arab position calling for an immediate ceasefire and the immediate and urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.” The ministers will discuss with the US Secretary of State “all the repercussions and ways to end this dangerous deterioration that threatens the security of the entire region,” according to the statement.
It is noteworthy that Blinken arrived in Jordan on Friday, after a visit to Israel that lasted a little more than 10 hours. On Friday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed the need to “prevent the expansion of the conflict in Gaza,” which has been ongoing since last October 7.
Blinken said in a press conference in Tel Aviv, where he arrived on Friday as part of a visit to the region: “We provided Israel with advice that only the best friends can provide, on how to reduce civilian deaths.” Regarding the violence of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, he added: “I heard a clear commitment from the Israeli government to deal with extremist violence.”
He added: “We need to prevent the expansion of this conflict,” adding: “Regarding Iran and Hezbollah, we have been clear from the beginning that we are determined not to open an additional second or third front in this conflict.”
