Iran and Turkey call for a regional conference on Gaza
Turkey and Iran called for a regional conference aimed at avoiding the expansion of the war between Israel and Hamas.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian: “We do not want the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza to turn into a war that affects the countries of the region.” While Abdullahian called for the conference to be held “as soon as possible,” according to Agence France-Presse.
During the press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Abdullahian warned of “serious consequences” if the attacks on the Gaza Strip continued.
It is worth noting that the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced, today, Wednesday, through its spokesman in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra, that the death toll in the Gaza Strip had risen to 8,796, since the seventh of last October. Al-Qudra added, in a press conference, that among the dead were 3,648 children and 2,290 women, and the number of injured rose to 22,219.
On October 7, the Hamas movement launched an unprecedented attack, during which it infiltrated Israeli areas through the separation fence and attacked border towns and residential communities, causing the death of more than 1,400 people, most of them civilians, and 240 hostages were also taken, according to the Israeli authorities.
